Rural Development in Banyusoca Village

DesBin_2013 Rural development is a program in applying community service, one of higher education pillar. Banyusoca is a village located in Playen Gunungkidul, which most of the people living there make coconut sugar to earn living. They have a cooperation namely Tri Rahayu as center for the production and marketing of coconut sugar. As rural partnership, HIMATIPA through the Department of Community Service, selected the site is along with the assessment carried out. At the beginning, the assessment was compared with Wonokerto Rural in Sleman, but Banyusoco finally got a higher based on assessed parameters, such as resource potential, location, production capacity, the willingness of the community, and the product tmarketing. Signing of MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the rural chair – Ms. Murgiyanti, and Department of TIP Mr. Adi Djoko Guritno and HIMATIPA Chair – Mr. Fajar Kurniawan was held on August 26, 2013. Followed by a discussion carried by the Department to rural community in order to find problems faced by coconut sugar production and marketing. This was enriched by a lecturer by Mr. Suharno Mr. Anggoro Cahyo. The next activity was the socialization of oil waste processing by I Putu Eldwin I.D. (TIP 2010) and manner with community. At this time, an activity conducted for elementary school children in the village raise their self-introduction. There was also a problem found stem from young people of the village who claimed to be hampered in the development of entrepreneurial skills. This problem was note to be considered for future development activity.
